Gov. AREGBESOLA SINS AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF OSUN STATE
1. ALIMOSHO BOYS: After Aregbesola won the election in his first term, he used free train ride to bring all his loyalists “ALIMOSHO BOYS” to Osun state to work with his govt — they are people who consisted his aides and special advisers. What these people are receiving from Osun as salaries and other emoluments of office constitute a huge drains in the purse of Osun people. Instead of Aregbe to award contract to contractors in Osun under his bogus Infrastructural Development Projects, he awards contract to his Smart Lagos Boys who entered Osun people anyhow by going outside Osun to get workforce in order to cover up the actual cost of the projects instead of relying on carpenters, welders, bricklayers and other artisans available within the state — many contractors, workmen and traders are not happy with this developments.
2. POLICY DIRECTION: Aregbe being a governor of a state like Osun, common sense would have dictated that the state historically rely on agriculture with its many agrarian communities. The youths have abandoned farming to the elderly ones and all want a fast cash spinning vocation. Osun is blessed with large and fertile agricultural land, his govt. policy focus should have been on agriculture especially mechanised farming to stimulate the economy of the state, create mass employment opportunities and alleviate poverty instead of massive infrastructural development drive.
3. CORRUPTION: While it is obvious to everyone that Aregbesola is running many welfarist programs purportedly targeted at the masses such as OPON IMO, IGBAYI LAARO, FREE SCHOOL MEAL AND SCHOOL UNIFORMS etc most of these social welfare program are being awarded and executed by family members, political loyalists and friends, therefore when the amounts of money budgeted and expended in running such programs is compared with actual impact on the people, one will discovered a huge chunk of the money has been diverted into private pockets as a result of corruption. Above all, the amounts of money Osun state contributed in funding APC in the just concluded 2015 election is also one of the major reason the state has ended up broke.
4. EXCESSIVE BORROWING: The drivers of the economy in Osun state are the Civil Servants and few Banks. Every other thing like traders, schools etc rely on the income of the civil servants. By borrowing to fund capital projects and refusal of the banks to grants further loans, no wonder the state govt. ran into serious problems in paying salaries of civil servants for several months.
